Welcome
Happy New Year and welcome back as the Yorkshire Guernsey Basketball Leagues get underway again. The first half of the season has seen some close and hard fought battles, especially in Division One where all 5 teams have won (and lost!). Division Two leaders Manzur are yet to really be tested and the same can be said for Collins Stewart Tropics who are also unbeaten in the Women’s division.
Collins Stewart Juniors and Dee-Caf Magics lead the way in what will be a close Social league season.
The Island Women’s team face Guildford and Birmingham in their next two matches in the National League and they will be hoping they can push on into the top three and give the leaders a run for their money. You can get all the stats on the England Basketball Website.
We also have the Inter-Insular to look forward to on March 28th with 4 fixtures against our Jersey rivals at Beau-Sejour. The GBA are currently looking for a main sponsor for the day, so if you are interested or know someone who is, get in touch by email pjogier@cwgsy.net
Finally the GBA wishes all the players, coaches and officials the very best for 2009 and look forward to a successful year of Guernsey Basketball.

Island Games - Aland 2009
It seems like only yesterday that Guernsey Basketball was sunning itself in Rhodes for the Island Games. By our own admission, the Women were disappointed to place just outside the medals but the Men had a solid tournament with their highest ever finish of 6th, which included an all important victory over arch rivals Jersey.
