There were wins for CS III, Brock Road, Mavs, RBC and the Junior Island sides in this weeks Yorkshire Guernsey Basketball matches.
Eventure Hornets 40 (Loveridge 16)

Bachmann 27
In a fairly even contest the Eventure Hornets ground out a win against an uptempo Bachmann side that look to have greatly improved since last season. The Hornets started slowly and the hussle defence and rebounding of the Bachmann team, limited the Hornets scoring opportunities. Unfortunately Bachmann could not capitalise as they lacked consistency on their offence. This was highlighted by the fact that no-one player scored more than 6 points for them.
The Hornets left it late and it was thanks to the fast breaking and accurate shooting of Gemma Loveridge who managed a personal haul of 16 and on this performance she should be hoping for an Island call up before too long. Although the Bachmann team made every effort to get back into the game they eventually succumbed to a 40-27 defeat. Both teams will be looking to improve on various aspects of their game before their next fixture.
La Fraternelle All-Stars 46

Mavericks 53 (Blampied 15)
The two unbeaten sides in Division 2 met each other in a match that could go someway to deciding the title, even at this early stage of the season. For once the Mavs started quickly and raced into an 8 point lead, only to have it reduced early in the 2nd quarter. It was a fast and frantic affair with defence winning over offence for the majority. It was La Fraternelle who managed to sneak a 1 point lead at the half by 25-24. The 3rd quarter was just as tense with neither tesm allowed to settle. In another low scoring quarter the game was tied at 36 with just 10 minutes remaining. The early minutes of the fourth would prove to be decisive as the Mavericks defence limited their opponents scoring opportunities whilst making the most of their own. On the back of a three pointer the Mavs had an 11 point cushion with only 4 minutes to go, efectively killing the game. Mavericks cleared their bench for the remaining minutes and altough La Fraternell e closed the defecit to 7, they simply ran out of time. Final score 53-46.
Le Mont Saint 54 (Lawlor 21)

Collins Stewart 2 47
The first division 1 game of the season saw title challengers Le Mont Saint and newly promoted Collins Stewart 2 pitched against each other in what proved to be an exciting contest. The more experienced Le Mont Saint started well and took an early advantage through the inside presence of Nick Lawlor and Micheal Beausire. The smaller Collins Stewart team found it difficult to match up against a side that were prodominantly 6ft plus. Lawlor was rested toward the end of the quarter with Le Mont Saint leading 20 - 8 but while he sat, the CS 2 team rallied and managed to bring the scores within 1 at 27-26. The second half was just as close with Le Mont Saint opening up a 5 point lead at the end of three. This was once again due to the inside presence of Lawlor, Beausire, Chester and Sidaner who registered all of their teams points. The gap could have been closer but CS struggled from the charity stripe making just 1 from 5. Both teams struggled for ryt hum in the final quarter and in a low scoring affair, Le Mont Saint eventually edged out the young CS side taking the win by 54-47. CS coach Adam Farish was happy with his sides performance and can only see them improving over the course of the season. James Tracey of Le Mont Saint will also be happy with the win but would feel that others need to contribute to the scoring for them to maintain their title challenge. Nick Lawlor was outstanding for Le Mont Saint scoring 21 points to lead all scorers.

Learning Co 22
The champions struggled to find their feet early on against an aggressive Learning co side looking to cause an early season upset. Once CS took the lead in the fourth minute they never lost it and always looked fairly comfortable against a side missing Emma Webb. Although they never looked like losing, CS were made to work for every point and had it not been for some poor finishing from the Learning co, the result could have been much closer. Collins Stewarts Simone Harris picked up early fouls and was forced to sit and without her, CS struggled to structure their offence. It was left to Lorna and Kerry Brown to pick up the slack as they scored 25 points bewteen them. For the Learning co, Kimberley Brown, Tracey Martel and Sarah Mallett all had solid games but it just wasn't enough on this occasion. After three close quarters, Collins Stewart dominated the fourth by 18-6 to seal the victory. Lorna Brown lead all scorers with 15 for CS with Kimberley Brown picking up 10 for the Learning co.
Brock Road 43 (Rowe 15)

Breydole 63 (Warren 13)
Breydole got their second win of the season against the enthusiastic Brock Road team. Breydole started the better of the two and took an early lead but an early second quarter run reduced the defecit to just 1 point. Brock Road started the third well and took the lead through a series of And 1's from Scott Rowe. They should have extended the lead to double figures but missed lay-ups and turnovers took their toll as Breydole posted a 10-0 run to regain the lead. The Brock Road heads had dropped by this point and Breydole could sense victory as they increased the lead to 14 by the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw Brock Road huff and puff but the height advantage of Sam Warren proved to be the key as he scored 8 fourth quarter points and with it sealed victory for Breydole by 63-43. Scott Rowe scored 15 for the Brock Road side.

Under 21's
The champions started the defence of their title with what should have been a straightforward contest against the Under 21 men. The U21's raced out of the block with quick points from long range complimented by Mike Beausire inside. CS looked rattled and the new combination of players on court were struggling to gel. At the end of the quarter the Juniors held an unlikley advantage by 13-6. By the end of the second quarter the chance of an upset had gone as CS deployed a full court press creating turnover after turnover and scoring easy lay-ups. It was the same scenario in the third as coutnless lay-ups were made complimented by some streaky shooting from Si Le Blancq as he nailed four three pointsers in as many minutes. The fourth quarter followed suit and by the final whistle the juniors had been soundly beaten, outscored in the final 3 quarters by a mamoth 105-27. Final socre 111-40. Kerry Smyth lead all scorers with 24, assisted by Le Blancq with 23, Ogier with 22 and Roussel with 18. The Juniors were lead by Mike Beausire.
