Archenoul becomes a saint Luke Archenoul has gained a place at St Luke's High School in Conneticut . The placement comes after a successful season in Middlesborough where Luke averaged over 30pts per contest. Luke will spend two seasons in their programme before becoming eligible for college selection. We wish Luke the best of luck for the new season.

St. Peter Port Rookies League Is now running at St. Peter Port school for children aged 8-10 on Mondays and for 11-13 year olds on Tuesdays. All sessions cost £1 per week and run from 6-7pm. Please email Rachel for further details. |

The GBA Committee will be running a 1 day table officiating course for Scorekeeping and Timekeeping. The course will be held at the Grammar school in early September, so if you want to broadan your knowledge on the officiating side of basketball, please contact the committee to reserve your place. |
Kings Club 3 on 3 Ten teams competed for the title of "kings of the court" at Kings club last weekend. Guernsey Basketball was well represented with 8 of the teams containing current GBA players. Congratulations to James Tracey, Mike Beausire, James Roberts and Peter Beausire who walked away with the £150 first prize. well done to all players who took part. Pictures will be loaded in the Gallery in the next few days.

The GBA will be putting together a trip to next years BBL finals in the UK. The finals weekend consists of Div 2 final and BBL League semi-finals on the Saturday and Womens Final, Div 1 Final and BBL Final on the Sunday. If you are interested, please contact Pat Ogier by November 31st |
Yabsley signs six month contract with the Bears Martin Yabsley has signed a 6 month contract with the Brighton Bears which he hopes will lead to a more lucrative move abroad in Spain or possibly Australia in the second half of the season. |
Women's Division B
Batif 22 v Bachmann 28
Newly formed Batif took on Bachmann in a potential champions clash. Bachmann started the better as the got early points on the board, Julie Elmy and Danielle Rowe the catalysts as their team opened a 18-12 first half lead. Batif struggled from the outside but kept going through the third to keep the deficit at 6 heading into the final quarter. The lead was cut to 2 but six straight points, including 4 from Rowe ensured Bachmann held on for the victory by 28-22. Rowe finished with 10 for the winners.
Martel Dunn 18 v GTS All-Stars 39
A new look GTS All-Stars took on Martel Dunn in the Womens B division at Beau-Sejour. In a tight first half, both teams found it difficult to find the basket, so it was no surprise to find GTS leading by just a single basket 7-9 at the end of the first. GTS faired a little better in the second quarter, finally finding some consistency around the basket. Sammie Redhead lead the way as her team took an 12-18 lead heading into the half time interval. More of the same followed in the third and fourth quarter as GTS began to pull away from their opponents to register a comfortable 18-39 win. Redhead lead all scorers with 17.
Women's Division A
Eventuure Hornets 34 v Collins Stewart 52
Collins Stewart got back to winning ways in the Women's A league as they put in a solid performance against the Hornets. CS quickly took the league thanks to the fast breaking of Kerri Brown. Hornets had no answer to the counter attack as they struggled to find the basket during the first quarter. It was a similar story in the second quarter as CS extended their lead to 9-27 at halftime. The second half was a lot tighter with honors even at 25-25 but the good first half display from CS ensured the took a 34-52 victory to get their title challenge back on track. Kerri Brown lead all scorers with 22.
Division 2
Island Women 40 v Goldridge Estate Agents 81
Goldridge claimed their second victory of the season against a young Island Women's side in Division 2. Goldridge used their size advantage well as they claimed most of their points from close to the rim. The Island side struggled with the physical presence of GEA as they fell behind in the first half by 14-31. In the third quarter, Liz Kerr proved how valuable she is to the Island set up with a barrage of three-pointers, but GEA never looked in trouble with Glenn Walker carrying out the scoring duties for his side. The fourth quarter was the most one-side of the four as a tired Women's side once again struggled with Goldridge's size around the hoop. A 29-14 quarter ensured am emphatic 40-81 victory - Glenn Walker scoring 21 in his sides win, Kerr adding 17 for the Island Women.
Brock Road 70 v Richmond 63
Brock Road were looking for their first victory in Div 2, while Richmond were keen to keep their unbeaten run to the start of the season going as the two sides met at BSJ. Brock Road opened with all guns blazing as three pointer after three pointer was attempted. Connecting on three attempts in the first quarter saw the Oranges open up a 19-12 lead. The second quarter went the way of Richmond as they cut the lead to 5 as Chris Lamb and Gavin De La Mare found their shooting touch. Into the third quarter and Brock Road again got hot from outside hitting 5 threes in the quarter. Richmond were also free scoring but they leaked far too many points and heading into the fourth found themselves down by 9 (53-44). Into the final quarter and Richmond began to fight back cutting the lead to four, but a couple of quick baskets by Brock Road and the lead was back to 9. In the final minutes, both teams traded baskets and despite Richmond's best efforts, they could not get back on terms - Brock Road running out winners by 70-63. Ricard Fletcher lead all scorers with 23 while Lamb added 17 for Richmond.
Colourcare Cavaliers 39 v Bredoyle 106 (Cairns 57)
Bredoyle claimed their first victory of the season as they hammered Colourcare Cavs by a massive 67 point margin. It was one way traffic from the start as Bredoyle imposed their superior height and speed advantage. The Cavs had no answer as Bredoyle racked up the points - Tristan Cairns the main benefactor as he recorded a season high 57 points in his sides 39-106 win.
Development League
RGF 55 v Collins Stewart Juniors 56
The two top sides met in the development league at Elizabeth College and it was the younger CS sides that came away with the narrowest of victories against last years champions. The game was tight throughout with neither side establishing a lead until the start if the third quarter. Up until that point, Laurence Lord for RGF and James Alderton for CS kept their respective sides in the contest. Both sides played some excellent basketball but as Lord went to the bench with foul trouble, CS took advantage to open up a 10 point lead. That lead should have been extended by the end of third but too many missed free-throws by CS meant they only lead by 49-41 heading into the fourth. As Lord returned, RGF grew in confidence and slowly chipped away at the deficit to bring themselves to within 1 with just a minute remaining. Alderton came up with a big basket from the re-start to extend the lead back to three and try as RGF might they could not quite do enough, albeit scoring the final basket to narrowly lose out by 55-56. Alderton top scored with 28 for CS while Lord bagged 17 for RGF.
Dee-Caf Dreamers 11 v RGF 91
Dee-Caf came up against a rampant RGF side at Elizabeth College as last years champs destroyed the young beginners by 91-11. Laurence Lord had a field day around the basket as he bagged 36 points but he was assisted by all of his team-mates as they ran Dee-Caf ragged. Dee-Caf worked hard with Lewis Gill running the play and in time they will get better and better. On this occasion though it was RGF who coasted to victory in a rather one sided contest.
Central Sports 45 v Dee-Caf Dreamers 22
Central Sports claimed their first win of the season over Dee-Caf in the development league. The first half was a tight affair as both sides struggled to find the basket but it was Central Sports who held a slender lead by 16-14. Into the second half and central Sports began to show their potential as Adam Bullock began to stretch the lead. Dee-Caf worked hard but Centrals height advantage was the difference as Bullock in particular took advantage to register 17 points in his side 45-22 win.
Business League
Specsavers 23 v RBC 47
Last years champs RBC faced Specsavers in a top of the table clash which in the end proved one sided in favor of the bank side. Lance Redpath gave RBC the early advantage with some easy lay-ups in the first quarter. Specsavers were wayward in the first half which resulted with them trailing at the break by 8-25. The dominance continued in the second half although Specsavers continued to work hard and began to make some shots to the their credit. It was never going to be enough though as RBC eased home by 23-47. Redpath lead the scoring with 17 for his side.
Kleinwort Benson 29 v Dee-Caf Magics 32
Dee-Caf met new boys Kleinwort Benson in the Business League in what turned out to be a close game. Dee-Caf lead early and a white wash looked on the cards at the end of the first quarter as they lead 14-6. The teams trade baskets in the second period and at the half, Dee-Caf had the advantage 18-12. KB jumped into life at the start of the third as they stormed back into contention to level the game at the end of the quarter. All square at 26-26 with just the final stanza remaining. The final quarter was very tentative with both sides missing a host of chances and going into the final minute it was anyone's game at 29-32 in favor of Dee-Caf. KB had the chance to tie or even win the game as they were awarded 4 free throws during the minute, but having missed all four they slumped to defeat by 29-32.
Les Camps Eagles 33 v Dee-Caf 58
Dee Caf brushed aside the Les Camps threat in the Business League on Friday night. The result was never in doubt from the start as Dee-Caf began to rack up the points, with wave after wave of fast break lay-ups. Add to that a couple of threes from Will Clements and by half time the Magics held a 32-12 lead. Les Camps faired slightly better in the second half but the enthusiastic Dee-Caf team were not about to let the game slip as they continued to play some good basketball. By the end the Eagles were well beaten by the score line 58-33. Will Clements lead the way for the Magics with 21 points.
