4th October 2008 - UWIC Archers 56 v Guernsey 94
<< Back

Guernsey got their National league campaign off to a flyer with a comprehensive victory over UWIC Archers in Cardiff.

The Guernsey team lead from start to finish and played some great basketball along the way. Guernsey started strong and pressured the ball from the outset leading to turnovers and fast break points. Liz Kerr and Emma Pattimore controlled the offence brilliantly and with Gemma Loveridge and Amy Wright working well in the post positions, UWIC had no answer to the backdoor cuts which lead to easy scores.

The second and third quarters saw the pace slow and UWIC slowly come back into it but the lead remained at 25 with Guernsey able to rotate their players and rest for the game the following day.

The fourth quarter saw Guernsey up the tempo again as they looked to finish on a high note and carry some momentum into the Birmingham game. Kerr, together with Jenny Rees and Gemma Loveridge made some nice scores to push the lead out to 56-94 by the buzzer.

Kerr finished with 20, while Amy Wright and Gemma Loveridge added 19 & 16 respectively.

MVP – Liz Kerr
