8th November 2008 - Cardiff Celts 60 v Guernsey 74 (Kerr 25)
<< Back

Guernsey were on the road again in Cardiff looking to get their season back on track with a win against last years runners up Cardiff Celts.

Both teams started slowly but midway through the quarter the game burst into life with Guernsey edging into the lead on the back of some aggressive offensive rebounding. Captain Liz Kerr and Amy Wright lead the way with support from Jenny Rees and Gemma Loveridge off the bench. Celts started to panic and had it not been for their 6ft Spanish centre the game would never have been close. The Guernsey pressure applied by Webb and Brown caused no end of problems and with time expiring on most possessions too may wayward shots saw Guernsey lead at the half 27-38.

Into the second half and the game continued to go Guernsey’s way with some slick passing movements leading to key baskets. Again Kerr and Wright were on the end of things but with the whole squad being rotated, the team grew in confidence. The lead was stretched to as many as 19 but as Guernsey eased off the gas they ran out comfortable winners by 60-74. Kerr top scored with 25 for Guernsey.

MVP – Liz Kerr
